Quartz Tungsten Halogen (QTH) lamps are a common alternative to arc lamps. Compared with arc lamps, QTH lamps have better output stability, do not produce strong ultraviolet radiation, have no obvious peak lines in their output spectrum, and do not produce toxic ozone. These advantages over traditional arc lamps make QTH lamps ideal for radiometric and photometric applications and as excitation sources for visible to near-infrared light.
